By driving down the drive way at night toward our house, the following happens.  When a car approaches our house, the entrance light goes on, a light goes on up stairs, a notation is made in a log that a vehicle approached the house at that time, and then, if it is us, we can press a button which sends the coded signal from our vehicle and opens the appropriate garage door.

As the garage door is opening, the garage lights go on, as well as in the room we enter in the house. The door is already unlocked automatically.  When we enter, we un-set the alarm, and the house says, "Welcome Home!" and at Christmas it starts off with, "Merry Christmas!"   I have speakers in 4 locations so we can hear it where ever we are downstairs.

Then we can shut the garage door from the house or car if we are leaving. As it is shutting the house says, "Garage door one is closing."  If it is garage door two, then it states that.  Then the house says, "Garage door one (or two) confirmed closed."  We also have indicator lights that let us know when certain doors are open or locked.  This lets us know at a glance during the day, or especially at night when we go to bed. The house lights that turned on, now turn off automatically, including the ones in the garage.

When we enter the family room, the lights automatically go on if it is dark enough outside, and a light in our kitchen on the other end of the house is already on to light our way, too.  As we enter the family room, the house greets us with another random saying, i.e. "While you were gone, I ate your cookies," or "I had guest over while you were gone." Sometimes it surprises us, and especially guests when it says, "While you were gone, I ran around naked!" There are about 16 random things it can say.

Now that we are home, the water pump turns back on, and if needed, the heat or AC comes back up to our comfortable settings.  Then the house tells us the temperatures in our living area, my work area, and the outside temperature.  We also get the current setting of our HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning) status.  At nights, or while we are gone, the temperature can be lowed and thus the house says that it is on automatic set back.  We also are told to "Check the entry way for packages" if our doorbell rang while we were gone and UPS, FedEX, or even the US Postal Service may have left a packad. If ever there is a status that the Time Commander + thinks we might want to know about, the house will tell us to check the message log.
